RDE Web Portal
My first production deployment: weekly escrow uploads, without the manual export.

Built during the early phase of my internship. It was my first real-world deployment.
How it fits together
01
Context
A domain registry keeps its domain and client data with an escrow provider. That data had to be exported in a structured format and uploaded to the RDE FTP server every week.
During my internship I built a Django portal for the underlying records and automated the weekly upload.
02
Constraints
- Escrow deposits have to arrive on schedule, every week.
- Datasets must follow the expected structure exactly.
- Domain and client records need authenticated access.
03
What I built
- A Django application for domain lifecycle management and client records.
- User authentication and an admin dashboard.
- Domain data processing that produces structured datasets.
- A scheduled Python job that generates the weekly dataset and uploads it to the RDE FTP server.
04
Tradeoff: Schedule it instead of doing it by hand
A scheduled job is one more thing to run and watch. A weekly manual export is easy to forget or get slightly wrong, so automating it was the safer choice.
05
Outcome
The weekly escrow upload no longer depends on someone remembering to export and send it by hand.
